Each Monday*, the editors at Dispatches will offer a recap of things that happened over the weekend and a look ahead at what’s going on this week on campus. We hope to point you toward links that you may not have seen, alert you to events that you won’t want to miss, and call your attention to items that captured ours. Enjoy.

• A couple of weeks ago, the Middlebury Board of Trustees approved a plan to limit comprehensive fee increases up to one percentage point above the consumer price index. President Ron Liebowitz explains what this means in his blog “Ron on Middlebury.”
  
• Ever wonder how the College handles snow removal? In an illuminating  play-by-play, Tim Parsons tells all.
• An Academy award-winning documentary film maker, a decorated U.S. Army colonel, and a MacArthur “genius” are among those tapped by Middlebury to receive an honorary degree in May.

• Are you familiar with the story of Nettie Anderson? She was the first black woman to graduate from Middlebury and the first in the nation to be inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
• It took four overtimes to knock the women’s hockey team out of the NESCAC tournament—that’s four overtimes in one game. Trinity outlasted the Panthers, 2-1, in the longest Division III women’s hockey game ever played.
• The men’s hoop team advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, before falling to Rhode Island College, 75-59. Middlebury finished the season with a school-record 25 wins (against just 4 losses) and won an NCAA tournament game for the first time in the program’s history.
• Acclaimed performance artist Guillermo Gomez-Pena comes to campus this week. Tickets are still available for Thursday’s performance.
• Pulitzer-Prize winning poet C.K. Williams will give a reading on Wednesday at 4:30 in the Axinn Center’s Abernethy Room. Williams has been called “one of the most distinguished poets of his generation” by the Times Literary Supplement.
• The men’s hockey team returns to the NCAA tournament after a two-year absence. The Panthers take the ice on Saturday night at The Chip for a quarterfinal match-up with Plattsburgh. Tickets are still available.
